St Andrew’s Weekly News

The two readings for this Sunday talk about seeing God clearly – or failing to see him clearly. Both talk of the gift of God to give us a clear sight of his light and his glory. The disciples were given a once in a lifetime revelation of how amazing this fellow from Nazareth that they had been following for the last couple of years really was. As Christians it is so easy to begin to take God for granted, to forget what a wonderful gift it is to know him. Our spiritual sight becomes dull. What would it take to sharpen up our spiritual sight, and know God more fully for us this week?

This is the month to sign up for a place on the Parish Weekend. Soon we will have to give final numbers to Cloverly Hall and make a further financial commitment. The rooms are being allocated, so please sign up soon.

This years Lent course to be held at St Andrew’s -’ Reflections on the Parables’. An amended flier has been attached correcting the dates in last week’s flier.
Each generation is challenged to reflect on and live out the message of Jesus in their time. Jesus used Parables to present His teaching on the values and ethos of the Kingdom. He used them to challenge hypocrisy, oppression, prejudice and injustice. They continue to do so in these times. During Lent 2012 there will be a series of 5 weekly sessions that will focus on the Parables. We will follow in His footsteps and reflect on the deep and many layered wisdom of His teachings. Each parable is like a pearl of wisdom designed to provide food for the Christian Journey.
